Since the days of Monty Python, I’ve admired the fun and irreverence that goes on across the pond. In bringing up a link, I saw that Paddy’s Poker has a tournament in the offing. Made me want to silly walk over to the Emerald Isles.
Why you ask? No dead parrots. No pompous officers making a much of things. But, it is Irish through and through. Looking at the tournament program, it certainly isn’t your staid WSOP program.
I really wish I was more Irish — Mom was half. I am a Barrett too, donchano. It is a great chance to play at the Dublin Hilton in some very affordable tournament. To the staid there is the €1,000 + €125 standard main event. For those of us with smaller pockets or varied skills, it is a great chance to participate in affordable tournaments. For bloggers that roam the wild side there is even a beer pong contest — I’d back AlCan’tHang in that one in a heartbeat. But there is more.
How about a Crazy Pineapple tournament? (€50-5) Now that ain’t your standard fare.
Crazy Pineapple Poker: The rules of Crazy Pineapple Poker are similar to regular Hold’em except 1 – Each player is initially dealt one extra hole card (three in total) and 2 – Players must discard one of the three cards following the betting post flop
Too wild for you, you can play like the big boys in an €50-5 option that you can act like a high roller in.
NLH Run It Twice: Simply put, running it twice allows all-in players to see the remaining cards twice instead of once. The pot is then split into two, half for the first set of community cards, and the other half for the second. The option to run it twice occurs when everyone in the hand is all in. For example, if there were three players in the hand and only one of them was all in, running it twice would not be possible. Also to run it twice, every player in the hand must agree to run it twice, if one person decides not to run it twice the remaining community cards left to be dealt will be dealt normally – only once. There’s a 50-5 Run it Twice tournament just like it goes in Bobby’s Room..
The four day festival has become famous for it’s novelty side events (Blind Man’s Bluff, Mythical, Win The Button) and interesting night time entertainment in the bar (Beer Pong, Revolving Darts, Flip for a Drink).
I sure wish there was more fun at events beside the Blogger’s Winter Tournament and this venue looks like it has them. The only benefit we have if we can’t make it seems to be a happy liver.
