DNA Test

Several years ago, I had my DNA tested at 23andMe.com.  It was about twice the price it is now.  Not of lot of info after spending, I think, $395.   It is $199 now and there is a lot more info.  Family stories talked of some Cherokee ancestry and that only showed up recently.  There’s quite a bit more info and more is promised.

I also thought I was at least 1/2 German.  Not quite.   The name Prevo seemed related to Prevost (French) but it looks like that’s probably Welsh as people with that surname seem to be in Wales in some number.

Funny how American might know so little or so inaccurate their ethnicity. Here the latest info about me

My DNA

Maybe a relative will find this some day.  I doubt the rest of you find this much of interest.  But, we Yanks are a polyglot and that sure true of me.  Looks like my dad is the inner circles here and my mother the outer.

A family member trace some of the ancestry.   Asa Prevo lived in Maryland prior to the Revolution.  My grandmothers were both German.  My maternal Grandfather was Irish/Cherokee — but not as much of that as was thought.  Prevo-Doebler and Barrett-Augenstein were my grandparents surnames.

Well, if you read this far, this will give you something to razz me about:

Fix your post, please. Isn’t the percentage point off one space — 26%?

I’d like to have the analysis run to find out how close my perceptions are to reality. Those of us with mixed Euro blood might be surprised.

It only looks like 26% when I’m pushing a bad hand.

Interesting stuff. Tempting to do this, just for fun.

Dave, the 23andme site now charges $199 and beside info like the above provides medical info. They had to get a special FDA license to do so. An example of this is that it tells me things like I have added sensitivity to coumaden.(sp?) If you’re still interested, message me and I’ll send you my logon to look around.
