Atlas Unmugged

I had no thought of writing a blog today.   That change a minute ago.  I read a blog from the old days of poker.  Like many — including mine — it transition from talking about poker to something else.  The blog I am mentioning is Brad Willis’ own blog — Rapid Eye Reality.  The blog post I’m referring to is Atlas Mugged.

He talks about his youth angst.  He mentions his parents conservative bent.  He talks about impoverished foreign places he’s visited.  You know — the standard Liberal indictment of our society. He goes on to discuss the Presidents callow remarks and concludes with I can point you to the best example of a shithole available today. Just type 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue into your browser. Google will do the rest.

Other than age, the two of us aren’t that different. My maternal grandparents fled the Dust Bowl just like his.   Mine with 4 daughters and a son.   Like many they ended up in California and later Illinois with Grandpa a scab in the Standard Oil strike where my father found my mother.  Those grandparents worked and struggle their entire life.  As far as I know, without a government handout.

My father was successful until circumstances brought about a bankruptcy.  He recovered from that and provided love and sustenance to myself and two sisters.   There was no government program used in the process.  My parents struggled but we knew we were loved.

So, we two aren’t that far apart in background.

Now, about Brad’s blog…

Well, hopefully you’ve read it and saw the meat of his view.

We differ in views.  I am not a flaming Libertarian but lean that way.  It wasn’t a conscious choice.  I just found I couldn’t find solace in either major party.   I found I couldn’t embrace either.  And, I certainly have my share of misgiving about the Executive Office  — it is one that has been ongoing.

We have spent billions on entitlement and extended it though massive foreign aid.   It came to the fore in the Johnson era and has accelerated since.  Our politicians throw money about with abandon. Every year they tell us we must do more.

Brad, what has it got us?  I would say that it gave us: I can point you to the best example of a shithole available today. Just type 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue into your browser. Google will do the rest.

Enough in that election were just tired of the crap being served.  They were tired of the national debt rising and rising without any good results.  Tired of feeble but expensive programs that changed nothing and they looked to shake things up and, man! they did.

Your liberal views have been as much the problem and not the solution.  Sad.  Your heart is in the right place but it just hasn’t produce what we’ve all sought.

You put Trump in office.  Live with it.

Here’s a good read about our government in action.
