A Poker Post

October 2nd, 2016No comments

Seeing I haven’t really played since the Black Friday days,  this has to be a bit of a stretch.  What right do I then have to talk about poker?  Good question! Read more…

Wire Act Activity

May 12th, 20163 comments

The wire act is used to keep us from a friendly, Internet poker game.  There is an interesting article on what is currently happening.  Most of the article talks about political cronyism and poker players can spell that Sheldon Adelson. Read more…

It a crack in the dike.

PayPal’s re-entry into the U.S. gambling world was done quietly. The company has a ban on all gaming activity unless the merchant is approved by PayPal.

In a statement to CNBC, the company said: “PayPal is launching a pilot program to support four leading real money gaming (RMG) operators to offer PayPal as a way for gamers to fund their online accounts with these merchants.” (Source: CNBC, September 15, 2015.)

The program is an test balloon for new revenue streams.

“We are launching this pilot now that we are able to fully comply with the evolving laws surrounding RMG in the United States as well as the requirements of our payment partners,” the statement read.

“As a global payments provider, PayPal’s goal is to give people safe and simple ways to pay for the things they want, so long as we can comply with applicable laws.”

Love makes fools of us all

I love a good shaggy dog.  Yeah, it is a sick attribute.  Shaggy Dogs are normally long winded so this guy seldom qualifies.  His offerings tend to brief and dramatic.  This one was thoughtfully longer with his normal profane.  It was one of those hand history based rants that can leave one scratching their head.  Then the comments added to the Shaggy Dog in serial format.  Internet shaggy dogs are a different breed with often vituperous outcomes.  Considering our source, little surprise. Scarecrow meets Apolo — an allegory

I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. — Tennessee Williams.

Well Mojo isn’t a stranger; but seeing the Feds have me locked up/out of poker,  it gets hard to get around a poker blog.  That’s the reason I quit the job once.   Being au courant becomes too great a stretch.  When you are playing, there are all these stock situations that you can rehash.  Read more…

You wil be Assimilated

July 27th, 20123 comments

Yeah, too many have been too clever with the above.  Getting a bit hackneyed.   Of course the topic is the robotic mind’s superiority to our mere human endeavors.  Robots are often discussed and cussed in poker.  There is another group that isn’t out to glom onto all our mobney. Read more…

Knowledge

May 14th, 20124 comments

That’s a word we all respect.  It is one of those good things.  I’ve always liked gaining knowledge.  That translates to a lot of hobbies and interests over the years.  We could throw in jack of all trades and master of none and not be that far from the mark in a lot of areas.  Two things stuck.  One was an interest in computers.  At that I think I could say that I was quite good.  I was around those that were truly great at times.  Mixed results with that.  The other has been a hobby — poker.  No poker player can deny mixed results happening.  I have had a lot of hobbies.  You can throw in expensive for most.  Hobbies were a very diverse group.  They came and went.  Poker has stuck longer than I’d thought it would. I Coulda Bena Contenda

April 14th, 20123 comments

So, Mojo is talking about another tour at the WSOP.   Had to remind me of the black day I almost won the main event.  Damn!  I thought I’d set that aside and here he brings it to the fore again.  Shame on you, Sir. Read more…

Variables

April 2nd, 20121 comment

I guess I might be living vicariously through Mojo.  At least it is a way to get a poker post going where I haven’t peeked a card in months.  Another former passion was programming.  Early on you learn about variables.  Variables, depending on language, really vary way beyond storing that temporary and changeable data.  Without variables there would be no computer programming. All a computer would do is rote actions. Think about that in the variety of things life presents for both our amusement and destruction. Read more…

with a little help from my friend.  That isn’t my favorite  Beatles side.  But, it is probably the only way I can come up with a reasonable poker post. Read more…
