So Far So Good

December 21st, 20121 comment

In case you forgot, today’s supposed to be the end of the world.  Looks like you can sit by the Tall Coniferous Holiday Totem (Christmas Tree in PCSpeak) and down some eggnog.  Maybe a little red headed girl will show up and sing Tomorrow.  Beat snakes showing up after too many eggnogs. Read more…

A Bit of The Third Man Theme Please

November 24th, 20121 comment

I kinda like that one.  It is certainly a memorable zither piece.  It is all about spies and such.  Of course, death and danger lurked in every doorway.  Not a job you might recommend to the children you have or like.  Well, hold on there.  After all it is a cyber age and often the real threat may be to one’s eye sight from staring at a screen. Dam Goot

I just ate.  My sympathy goes out to those of you scarfing down dry turkey.  This may have been one of the best meals I’ve cooked/eaten.  If I’d put a little more effort in it, they’d raise statues in my honor.  Aging doesn’t favor flavors.  I remember tastes from when my buds were far more sensitive.  It hard to live with that at times.  Today, the stars aligned and luck and skill merged.  Read more…

Welcome to my World

July 25th, 20128 comments

Won’t you come on in?  Oh, you have or you wouldn’t be reading this.  Here is a message of import.  Hedging the bet, I am typing it a week ahead.  It does carry a good risk:reward though — decent outs. Read more…

Art?

July 20th, 2012No comments

Those artist guys like Patrick are always arguing over perspective and they say it was the Renaissance masters that perfected it.  It is as deceptive as a good poker move.  This is slick.  Are you ready to be thrilled and amazed as you thought only Penn and Teller could?

Beauty

July 7th, 20125 comments

That is in the eye of the beholder.  And here is the prettiest thing I’ve seen in days. That scrawny line is the cool front; the cross marks yours truly.  It hasn’t fully happened but we love promise.  And, by tonight I’ll probably have the windows open — even if it isn’t that bright a move so soon.  The promise is a normal day tomorrow.  Normal temp anyway.  Right now it is still 90 degrees which is only a couple of degrees from my reported high for the day.  That seems pretty lame.  But, just south of here it is 15-degrees warmer.  The pattern is broken.  Sound the trumpets.  Loose the hounds.

Back in Ought-Eight

That was one of my Grandfather’s lines.  That ought really brought it home.  Damned if history doesn’t repeat.  Of course we’re past that a bit on our way to the teens.  According to Gramps, thing were brighter, tougher, friendlier … well you get the idea.  Whatever us kids could come up with, Gramps could top us.  We, the current crop of ancients, can’t really one-up this weather. Best we can hope for is a tie. Read more…

Art Meets Data

May 17th, 20122 comments

Wondering what friend Pat will have to say about the link below.  If you hit the main page there, you will be introduced to the artist/technologists who’s blog you are visiting.  It really spoke to me at a level I’m not really sure of. I’ve visited there two days now and find it somehow relaxing. Read more…
